In 2009, Chris Brown has been in the news for everything but his music and he’s receiving another round of less than flattering headlines this week. The singer’s motion to delay his preliminary hearing stemming from an alleged assault on fellow singer Rihanna has been delayed.

Brown will appear in court June 22.

The June 22 hearing will likely result in a feeding frenzy for publications fixated on celebrity gossip. Rihanna has been subpoenaed and will reportedly testify.

Brown’s situation has seemingly gone from bad to worse as Rolling Stone reports the “Kiss Kiss” singer has also received death threats. The Chicago Sun-Times also reported on the issue, with a source telling the paper that Brown is “totally paranoid” over the threats, which were deemed legitimate.

According to an anonymous Los Angeles Police Department insider, the threats are coming from a group—or individual—claiming affiliation with the “Women’s Protection Action League.”

Reports also reveal that a threat on Brown’s life could come from someone “disguised as a member of the paparazzi.”
